Kancheepuram District Profile Kancheepuram district is situated in the north eastern part of Tamil Nadu ,adjacent to Chennai city. It is bounded in the west by Vellore and Thiruvannamalai district, in the north by Thiruvallur district and Chennai city, in the south by Villuppuram district,in the east by Chengalpattu district. Kancheepuram district has an area of 1655.94 Sq km .The district has 5 taluks and 520 revenue villages. The annual average rainfall stands at 1133 mm .Maximum temperature is 360C and minimum temperature is 210C with relative humidity of 62 %. It consists of five blocks and four state Horticulture Farms. The District has horticultural crop area of about 3160 ha in which the fruits cover the major area followed by vegetables. Mango is the major crop under fruits covering 60 % of the total fruit crop area . Bhendi, Brinjal and Gourds are the major crops under vegetables covering 70 % of the total vegetable area.
