Rainfed Area Development is one of the major components of National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture

Rainfed Area Development is implemented by introducing appropriate farming systems by integrating multiple components such as Horticulture, Livestock, Fishery, Forestry with Agro-based income generating activities and value addition. The following components are being implemented under this scheme during 2019-20:

  • Integrated farming System (comprising of Horticulture based farming, Apiary units, Vermi-compost units, Milch cows, Goats/Sheep, Poultry birds)
  • Protected cultivation
  • Vermi beds
  • Post harvest storage units
  • Farmers training
  • Demonstrations
